NFL Draft

Jets trade up to get Sanchez

Admin - April 25, 2009

The New York Jets traded their #17 overall pick, their second round pick (#57 overall), DE Kenyon Coleman, S Abram Elam and QB Brett Ratliff for Cleveland Browns' #5 overall and selected QB Mark Sanchez from USC.

Sanchez, 22, threw for 3,207 yards with a 65.8% completion rate in his senior year (34 TD, 10 INT). He's 6'2", 228 lbs, can throw a deep ball and hit receivers in stride.

Positives: Althetic enough to move around the pocket, fine footwork, played in a pro-style offense, good in play action, played his best in big games.

Negatives: Played only one year as a starter, can be flustered by pressure, too many balls come out with a loose wobble, durability is a consideration.
