Rhodes Is Cleared, Hunted By Photogs

New York Jets FS Kerry Rhodes is not suspected of rape and is not the target of any criminal investigation, a New Jersey prosecutor said yesterday. As it was reported yesterday, a Canadian tourist told the NYPD that she had met two men at a Manhattan club late Friday or early Saturday and had gone with them to Rhodes' home in Morristown, NJ, where she supposedly was raped.

Meanwhile, according to, the rumors surrounding this weekend's incident at Rhodes' townhouse led to a media stakeout by photographers for New York tabloids in the quiet neighborhood and an ugly scene with frustrated neighbors of Rhodes.

"Shortly after 8 p.m., however, the two-car garage in the back of the home opened and a black Range Rover with tinted windows and Alabama plates reversed with Rhodes behind the driver's seat and a female passenger in the front.

The photographers sprang to action, snapping photos of Rhodes, who wore a baseball cap slung low as he sped down MacCulloch toward Route 202.

A neighbor, however, was incensed by their actions and chased photographers down MacCulloch, screaming expletives and threats.

Morristown police arrived and three officers, led by Sgt. Robert Holtz, took statements from each side before asking the photographers -- identified as Christopher Sadowski of the New York Post and Kevin Hagen of the New York Daily News -- to keep their distance."
