Head coach Rex Ryan got his first win last night against the New York Giants, as the Jets came from behind to defeat their cross-town rivals, 27-25. This was also the first game that QB Mark Sanchez played since being officially named the Jets' starting quarterback, and he played well. Sanchez looked better than in the first two games, as he showed plenty of poise, good decision making, ability to make tough throws and improvise on the fly. Sanchez went 13 of 20 for 149 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT.
For the second game in a row QB Mark Sanchez started slowly and then noticeably picked it up as the game progressed. Following a few empty possessions to start the half, Sanchez found his rhythm and led the Jets on a 62-yard drive that culminated in a 31-yard touchdown pass to WR Chansi Stuckey.
All eyes will be on QB Mark Sanchez tonight as he'll make his first start since being officially named the Jets' starting quarterback. Cross-town rivals, the New York Giants, will represent a formidable test for Sanchez, who struggled against the Ravens' starting defense on Monday. The Giants will be coming off a 17-3 loss to the Chicago Bears and will be obviously looking for some kind of redemption.
Rookie RB Shonn Greene will miss the upcoming game against the New York Giants and possibly the final preseason game against the Eagles as well. Greene suffered a rib injury in the game against the Ravens where he carried the ball twice for a total of 5 yards and also caught a 15-yard pass. Green had also gotten banged up on several occasions during training camp, so the question might be asked whether the rookie can stay healthy at all... So, don't expect RB Thomas Jones to get traded anytime soon.

Despite QB Mark Sanchez' shaky performance on Monday against the Baltimore Ravens, it looks like head coach Rex Ryan is leaning towards naming him the starter. He's expected to start against the Giants on Saturday and play into the third quarter.

Another preseason game is in the bag, but the Jets' quarterback situation seems to be as inconclusive as it was before preseason even began. Both QB Mark Sanchez and QB Kellen Clemens struggled last night, both threw interceptions returned for touchdowns. Sanchez went 3 of 8 for 43 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT. Clemens was 5 of 10 for 60 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT.

Both QB Mark Sanchez and QB Kellen Clemens threw interceptions in the first half against the Baltimore Ravens. First, Sanchez found himself under pressure and forced a quick pass that was picked off and returned for a touchdown. Sanchez struggled for the most part of the first half, but did step up on his final drive, as he connected with RB Leon Washington for a 19-yard touchdown pass. Washington was outstanding in the first half - 48 yards on 8 carries, 35 yards on 2 receptions, 1TD.
The battle for the starting quarterback position will reach its peak tomorrow when the Jets take on head coach Rex Ryan's former team, the Baltimore Ravens. Ryan spent the past 10 years with the Ravens, including last year as the team’s assistant head coach and defensive coordinator.

The Jets broke camp last night (this morning's practice got canceled) and headed back to New Jersey this morning, where they will conduct an open practice session tomorrow at their Florham Park complex. The practice is scheduled for 10:30am. Two more open sessions in New Jersey are scheduled for August 26th and August 27th. Both sessions will begin at 11:30am.

Rookie QB Mark Sanchez had a good practice session this morning completing 7 of 14 passes with 2 touchdowns, both TDs to WR Brad Smith. QB Kellen Clemens took a step back, completing 4 of 7 with 2 interceptions. So, it looks like Sanchez is back on top again but the question is for how long, as both have been really inconsistent. The Monday Night game against the Ravens should help determine the starter.
Head coach Rex Ryan has backed off from his previous statement that he will choose the starting quarterback before preseason game against the New York Giants. Earlier today Ryan said that the quarterback competition was "almost status quo" and the decision would be made when "the timing is right."

The New York Jets might return to Cortland again next year, at least that's clearly what Rex Ryan wants to do. Jets' head coach stated that he would like to go back to Cortland next year, as it helped the team's chemistry.

So, the Gang Green will be missing two starters due to suspensions when the season begins on September 13th. LB Calvin Pace will be serving a 4-game suspension for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing substances. DE Mike DeVito and LB Vernon Gholston are expected to replace Ellis and Pace in the starting lineup.

Rookie QB Mark Sanchez will be the starting quarterback against the Baltimore Ravens in the nationally televised game on Monday, August 24. The announcement was made earlier today by head coach Rex Ryan. This is going to be a real test for the rookie, as he'll be facing one of the best defensive units in the NFL.

The man who most likely cost the Jets a victory last night, WR Paul Raymond, was waived earlier today in a rather predictable move by the Jets. QB Chris Pizzotti, who was #4 on the depth chart and did not see any action last night, was let go as well. Additionally, the Gang Green signed OG Dennis Conley, an undrafted free agent who was waived last month by the Bears.

The Rex Ryan era officially began last night when the New York Jets took on the Saint Louis Rams in the first preseason game of 2009. Despite losing the game 23-20, the Gang Green played well and showed us plenty to look forward to both on defense and offense. The defense looked much more aggressive than in recent years, utilizing various blitzes and schemes that were unleashed from the get go.

What an entrance by QB Mark Sanchez! On his first ever play in the NFL the high prized Jets' rookie connected on a 48-yard pass with WR David Clowney. Sanchez followed with a couple of nice completions to TE Dustin Keller and the Jets took an early 10-3 lead on a Thomas Jones' TD run.
Two former defensive coordinators will make their head coaching debuts tomorrow as Rams head coach Steve Spagnuolo returns to Giants Stadium to face Rex Ryan's New York Jets. Rookie QB Mark Sanchez is also expected to make his much anticipated NFL debut. So, let's take a look at some of the upcoming position battles as well as just what players Jets' fans should be looking at closely...

Over six thousand fans came out to Hofstra University this evening to see the Jets' training camp practice session at their former facility. I am sure it would have been even more if not for the rain earlier and the overcast sky. Luckily, the weather did not spoil the Gang Green's one and only visit to Long Island this year.
There's been a rumor floating today that the New York Jets are trying to trade RB Thomas Jones. The rumor was started by Michael Lombardi from the National Football Post who said that the Gang Green were shopping the disgruntled running back to an NFC West team.

QB Mark Sanchez and QB Kellen Clemens, who are competing for the starting quarterback position, will play only in the first half this Friday against the Saint Louis Rams. They will be line up behind the depleted offensive line that will be missing both C Nick Mangold and OT Damien Woody, both are out with injuries. C Rob Turner and OT Wayne Hunter will replace them in the lineup.

DE Shaun Ellis missed both Monday practice sessions because of knee and back problems. The injuries are not considered to be serious and Ellis should be ready for regular season, which will most likely start for him in Week 2 due to the possible one game suspension.

Both CB Darrelle Revis and FB Tony Richardson are back in practice this morning after missing several sessions due to injuries. NT Kris Jenkins and C NIck Mangold, however, are both out with respectively calf and knee injuries. According to head coach Rex Ryan, Mangold may "miss a practice or two", while Jenkins is "progressing."

DE Shaun Ellis is expected to be suspended by the league for last year's incident with marijuana. On November 29th of 2008 the 10-year veteran was arrested in Morris County, NJ for possessing of less than 50 grams of marijuana, which is a disorderly person offense in New Jersey. Additionally, he was driving without insurance.

QB Mark Sanchez is running the starting offense this morning, while QB Kellen Clemens is with the second team. It sure looks like the rookie has impressed Jets' coaching stuff enough to push himself into the starting lineup.

The competition for the starting quarterback job continued last night, as the New York Jets held their annual Green & White scrimmage in front of 6,100 fans at SUNY Cortland. QB Mark Sanchez completed 9 of 16 passes for 70 yards, 0 TD, 0 INT. QB Kellen Clemens went 5 of 7 for 26 yards, 0 TD, 0 INT. In addition, 3 of Sanchez' passes were dropped.

While the battle between QB Mark Sanchez and QB Kellen Clemens is still going on, head coach Rex Ryan shed some light yesterday on when it could be over. Ryan said that the competition could be over before the preseason game against the New York Giants on August 29th. Neither quarterback has looked impressive thus far. Rookie Sanchez is obviously still learning the system, while experienced Clemens has been having an up and down training camp.

QB Kellen Clemens came out swinging in this morning's practice session, as he tried to rebound from his abysmal performances of late. On the second play from scrimmage in 11-on-11 drills Clemens threw a perfect play action strike to TE Dustin Keller who was all alone on the left side of the field.

Not much has changed since the morning practice, as the Jets' offense continued to struggle in the afternoon session as well. QB Kellen Clemens opened 11-on-11 drills with a pass to WR Chansi Stuckey, which was picked off by CB Lito Sheppard. Clemens followed with three more passes to Stuckey, but completed only one of them.

If this was another boxing round between QB Kellen Clemens and QB Mark Sabchez, it would have been scored 10-8 (usual score if there's a knockdown) in favor of Sanchez. Clemens threw 3 interceptions this morning and raised even more doubts about his place on the team. Fourth year in the league and basically no progress gotta tell you something!
NT Kris Jenkins was injured on a running play, falling awkwarly and then limping off the field. It appeared that his left ankle was injured but he was able to put weight on in. Jenkins then spent some time on the trainers' table and left for the locker room. Without him in the lineup the struggling running attack instanlty came alive as RB Thomas Jones began easily penetrating through the defense.
