Training Camp

Jenkins hurt in morning practice

Admin - August 1, 2009

NT Kris Jenkins was injured on a running play, falling awkwardly and then limping off the field. It appeared that his left ankle was injured but he was able to put weight on in. Jenkins then spent some time on the trainers' table and left for the locker room. Without him in the lineup the struggling running attack instantly came alive as RB Thomas Jones began easily penetrating through the defense.

The battle between Mark Sanchez and Kellen Clemens continued with an obvious advantage to the latter at first. Clemens connected on a few nice passes, including a really nice one down the right sideline to TE Dustin Keller and a deep ball to WR Jerricho Cotchery.

This streak, however, did not last long. Clemens threw two interceptions to S Jim Leonhard, but still, in my opinion, won today's round against Sanchez, who just did not impress at all. In another obvious misfire Clemens had Cotchery wide open on the left sideline and badly overthrew him.

The running attack struggled once again, but as I already mentioned, only up until Kris Jenkins left the field. Rookie RB Shonn Greene got completely leveled in blocking drills by LB Bryan Thomas, but did have a nice run later in the session.

Check out pictures from this practice session.

UPDATE: It looks like NT Kris Jenkins will miss only a few days. It's a calf strain.
