Morning Stream – Revis back in action, Woody is injured

Admin - August 10, 2009

Both CB Darrelle Revis and FB Tony Richardson are back in practice this morning after missing several sessions due to injuries. NT Kris Jenkins and C NIck Mangold, however, are both out with respectively calf and knee injuries. According to head coach Rex Ryan, Mangold may "miss a practice or two", while Jenkins is "progressing."

Undrafted rookie LB Jamaal Westerman continues to impress. Westerman, a former defensive end from Rutgers, chose the Jets over the Bears and Texans after the Draft. He stood out early during the three-day rookie minicamp ans has been impressive ever since.

TE Dustin Keller, a former first round draft pick who caught 48 passes for 535 yards, 3 TDs in his rookie year, is determined to become a better blocker in the upcoming season. "I'm solidifying my ability to block and I'm going to make big plays whether it be blocking or catching. If I'm able to be on the field for all running plays, teams will always have to guess (if it's a run or pass). Blocking is something really new to me. The whole entire concept is a little different for me. But now that I have a year under my belt, there are no excuses. I'm going to go out there and make it happen." More on Keller...

UPDATE (12:56 PM): OT Damien Woody suffered a head injury during this morning's practice session. OT Wayne Hunter replaced Woody in the starting lineup.

UPDATE (12:59 PM): C Nick Mangold will probably miss the rest of training camp and preseason games, but should be ready for regular season.
