Jets Preseason

Sanchez and Clemens will play only in first half

Admin - August 11, 2009

QB Mark Sanchez and QB Kellen Clemens, who are competing for the starting quarterback position, will play only in the first half this Friday against the Saint Louis Rams. They will be line up behind the depleted offensive line that will be missing both C Nick Mangold and OT Damien Woody, both are out with injuries. C Rob Turner and OT Wayne Hunter will replace them in the lineup.

Head coach Rex Ryan appears to be concerned about having Sanchez behind the second team offensive line that will be patched with two players from the third team. Sanchez' entire family is flying across the country to see his NFL debut.

Both WR David Clowney and WR Wallace Wright were excused from today's morning practice for personal reasons. The absence of Clowney created some buzz on the Internet, as he was posting on Twitter while the Jets' practice was already under way.

CB Darrelle Revis and NT Kris Jenkins are going to miss Friday's game as well. Jenkins has been out for some time now with a calf injury sustained early in camp. Revis has a hamstring problem. FB Tony Richardson will be a game time decision, he's listed as questionable.

Tomorrow's pracrice session at Hofstra University will begin at 5:45pm est. The gates will open at 4:00pm est. The team will be in shorts and the practice will be followed by a long autograph session.
