Jets Preseason

Greene out for preseason

Admin - August 27, 2009

Rookie RB Shonn Greene will miss the upcoming game against the New York Giants and possibly the final preseason game against the Eagles as well. Greene suffered a rib injury in the game against the Ravens where he carried the ball twice for a total of 5 yards and also caught a 15-yard pass. Green had also gotten banged up on several occasions during training camp, so the question might be asked whether the rookie can stay healthy at all... So, don't expect RB Thomas Jones to get traded anytime soon.

LB Vernon Gholston, who has been a major disappointment ever since he was drafted last year, will start against the Giants. He's projected to replace suspended LB Calvin Pace in the first four games of regular season. Although don't be surprised to see undrafted rookie free agent LB Jamaal Westerman to end up in the starting lineup if Gholston continues to struggle.

WR David Clowney is expected to get more playing time with the first team against the Giants. Clowney once again has been impressive in preseason games, catching 5 passes for 135 yards, 2 TDs in the first two preseason games.

S Jim Leonhard left today's practice early and did not return.

The Jets also introduced their new throwback New York Titans uniforms this afternoon. The team will wear these on October 25th against the Raiders and on November 1st against Miami.
