Despite loss, Jets stay up in power rankings

Admin - October 6, 2009

Despite losing to the New Orleans Saints, 10-24, the New York Jets remained in Top 10 of Power Rankings on all three major sports websites. In fact, ESPN even moved the Jets up from #6 to #5. CBS Sports had the Gang Green down one spot from #5 to #6, while FOX Sports kept them at #5.

Here's what the top 3 websites had to say about the Jets:

ESPN: Even though Mark Sanchez played like a rookie against the Saints' blitz, the Jets proved they can compete on the road.

FOX Sports: WHAT A SURPRISE: Everyone thought he had "it" all summer, but until he went out and beat the Patriots in Week 2 nobody was 100% certain that the Jets could be a playoff team with rookie QB Mark Sanchez calling signals. Despite a rough Week 4, the kid's gonna be alright.
WHAT A LETDOWN: That said, it's no fun to see a seemingly good egg react poorly to a game-changing, goal-line INT against the Saints by chop-blocking at Saints LB Jonathan Vilma's knees. Hopefully, he got that out of his system.

CBS Sports: Mark Sanchez had his first real rookie moment against the Saints last week. That should be it for a while. This is a good team.
