Bye week helps Jets move up in rankings

Admin - November 10, 2009

Despite not playing last weekend, the New York Jets moved up in power rankings on two of the three top sports websites. CBS Sports had the Jets up from #19 to #16. FOX Sports moved the Gang Green from #15 to #14. Only ESPN kept their position unchanged - #18.

Here's what the top 3 websites had to say about the Jets:

ESPN:  Rex Ryan gave the Jets a week off. Now it's time for their defense to start inflicting pain.

FOX Sports: FIRST-HALF BLESSING: Despite their recent skid, QB Mark Sanchez and coach Rex Ryan have provided new juice to a franchise that was lacking in that department. But both should really be patting RB Thomas Jones on the back after a strong first half.
FIRST-HALF CURSE: Both sides of the ball have suffered injury to major pieces of the Jets' puzzle, with DT Kris Jenkins and RB/KR Leon Washington lost for the season.

CBS Sports: They come out of their bye at .500 and face another .500 team in Jacksonville. They can't afford another loss, not with New England the following week.
