Jets continue rollercoaster ride in power rankings

Admin - December 22, 2009

As expected, the loss to the Atlanta Falcons lowered the Jets' stock in power rankings on two of the three major sports sites. The Gang Green fell 3 spots down in the latest ESPN power rankings (from #16 to #19) and one spot down on CBS Sports (from #16 to #17). FOX Sports, however, once again surprised everyone, as they moved the Jets up from #21 to #20. Last week when the Jets won, FOX moved them 2 points down.

Here's what the top 3 websites had to say about the Jets:

ESPN:  If the Jets have any wild-card chances left, they have to hope the Colts and Bengals rest starters.

FOX Sports: Flash back to the summer for a few moments ? the Jets entered the season with a rookie quarterback with just 16 college starts on his resume and a first-year head coach taking charge of a team that tanked down the stretch the year before. Thinking logically, a .500 season would be considered understandable. But with 2-3 potential wins left on the field this season — including three botched field-goal attempts in losing by one field goal vs. the Falcons — this season will likely end in bitter disappointment.

CBS Sports: How can they lose that game at home to the Falcons? Here's how: Mark Sanchez is struggling. They have to get more from him.
