Terrell Owens to the Jets?

Admin - July 27, 2010

According to ESPN, the New York Jets have contacted WR Terrell Owens' agent, Drew Rosenhaus, and have debated the idea of bringing the high-profile wide receiver to training camp. A deal between the Jets and Owens still is considered a long shot; one person estimated the Jets' chances at signing Owens at "20 percent."

The Gang Green will have to play the first four games of regular season without WR Santonio Holmes, who's been suspended by the league, but is Owens really the right person to fill the void? Known as the locker room "cancer", Owens is not what the Jets, who already have three disgruntled players wanting new contracts, need right now.

Pro Football Talk believes "that the news of the team's interest in Owens has been floated not, as many suspect, by agent Drew Rosenhaus, but by the Jets.  In our view, G.M. Mike Tannenbaum wants to gauge fan, media, and player reaction before going any farther."
