Jets lose positions in power rankings despite winning

Admin - September 28, 2010

So, the Jets beat the Pats in Week 2, then followed with another win against the Miami Dolphins, but for some reason 2 of the major 3 sports websites lowered the Gang Green's stock in their power rankings. ESPN put the Jets at #7 (down from #6 a week ago), FOX Sports had them at #9 (down 3 positions from #6 a week ago), and only CBS Sports valued the Jets higher than last week at #11 (up from #14 a week ago).

Here's what the top 3 websites had to say about the Jets:

ESPN:  For those judging QB development, Mark Sanchez has a slight lead over Chad Henne.

FOX Sports: Don't look now, but second-year QB Mark Sanchez is starting to find some badly needed consistency in his game. Once they get injured defensive players such as OLB Calvin Pace and CB Darrelle Revis back in the lineup, the Jets should be back to being one of the NFL's elite teams.

CBS Sports: The one concern I had with the Jets was Mark Sanchez. But the past two weeks, he's been on time with his passes and he's gaining confidence. That's scary for the rest of the AFC.
