Jets stay put in power rankings despite losing again

Admin - October 11, 2011

Losing for the third time in a row didn't seem to have much of an effect on the Jets' position in the latest power rankings. Only ESPN lowered their stock by 3 points down, from #14 to #17. FOX Sports even acknowledged that the Gang Green looked pretty competitive against the Patriots and moved them one spot up, from #13 to #12. Pete Prisco of CBS Sports moved the Jets one spot down, from #19 to #20, repeating for the second week in a row that the Jets can't throw the football. Well, the Jets are #21 in passing and #31 in running, averaging only 76.2 yards/game on the ground. Apparently, Mr. Prisco still thinks that this is 2009 and the Jets are the best running team in the league.

Here's what the top 3 websites had to say about the Jets:

ESPN:  Push the implosion button if the Jets lose to the winless Dolphins this week.

FOX Sports: Yes, the Jets move up one spot after a loss. However, there is no shame in losing to my No. 5-ranked team on the road, and they actually were somewhat impressive in that loss. Oakland, Baltimore and New England have all run at will on the Jets. That is a concern.

CBS Sports: This team is losing for two reasons: They can't throw it and they can't rush the passer. It shows up every week.
