In the end the New York Jets pulled out an overtime win in Miami, 23-20, unfortunately that was the only positive they could take out of this game. Both defense and offense struggled tremendously throughout the contest and to make things even worse - the Gang Green lost CB Darrelle Revis, arguably their best player, for the season with a torn ACL.

Last Sunday's win in Miami caused mixed reactions among the pundits who write up weekly power rankings for the top sports/football websites. As expected, none of them was particularly impressed with the Jets' overtime victory, but Brian Billick of FOX Sports went as far as lowering the Gang Green's position (from #17 to #19), despite the win. ProFootballWeekly kept the Jets right where they were a week ago, at #17. ESPN moved them one spot up - from #18 to #17. CBS Sports and ProFootballTalk both raised the Gang Green's stock from #19 to #15.

Following the offensive explosion in Week 1 against the Bills, the Jets' offense returned to where they were in preseason, gaining only 219 yards against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 2. As a result, five out of six power ranking websites lowered the Gang Green's stock, although by not as much as many had probably thought. Fox Sports kept the Jets right where they were a week ago, at #17. ESPN lowered them by one spot, from #17 to #18. Both CBS Sports and ProFootballWeekly moved the Jets two spots down. ProFootballTalk decided that the loss to Pittsburgh was worth three power ranking positions, while the Sporting News moved them four spots down, from #18 to #22.

All-Pro CB Darrelle Revis along with two other starters, TE Dustin Keller and LB Bryan Thomas, will miss Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Revis suffered a concussion against Buffalo and still hasn't been cleared for contact plays, while the other two have been hampered by hamstring injuries.
We've been posting weekly power ranking updates for quite a few years but now it's time to expand, as we're going to double the number of websites this year from three to six. In addition to the big three (ESPN, CBS Sports and FOX Sports), we'll also have power rankings from ProFootballTalk (PFT), ProFootballWeekly (PFW) and the Sporting News.

On the day when the New York Jets retired Curtis Martin's #28, the Gang Green's offense scored four touchdowns, erasing all memories of the poor preseason where they managed to score just one in four games. Special teams and defense scored as well, as the Jets utterly destroyed the Buffalo Bills, 48-28, setting a new season opener scoring record.

In a rather surprising move the New York Jets released DE Marcus Dixon, who was with the team since 2010. The Gang Green also released TE Derick Epps, S Antonio Allen (7th round pick) and claimed WR Clyde Gates, NT Isaako Aaitui, and TE Konrad Reuland. The first two players are former Miami Dolphins, while Reuland was in camp with the 49ers. Reuland also attended Mission Viejo High School in California, where he was teammates with QB Mark Sanchez. So, the Gang Green have cut 4 out of their 8 this year's draft picks.

The New York Jets cut three of their eight draft choices, as they trimmed their roster down to 53 players. 6th round picks RB Terrance Ganaway and OG Robert T. Griffin and 7th round pick WR Jordan White were waived today.Griffin was cut early in the morning, while Ganaway, who scored the only Jets' touchdown in this preseason, and White were at practice this afternoon. Both White and Ganaway will most likely end up on practice squad if they clear waivers.
