Jets continue their slide in power rankings

Admin - October 10, 2012

Another week, another loss, as the New York Jets continued spiraling down the NFL power rankings ladder. Three out of the five websites valued the Gang Green lower than a week ago. ESPN had them down at #25 (#22 a week ago), CBS Sports lowered their stock to #24 (#22 a week ago) and ProFootball Weekly placed the Jets at #22 (#21 last week). FOX Sports kept rex Ryan's team at #27 (lowest of them all), while ProFootballTalk figured that the spirited loss to the top ranked Texans deserved a raise - up to #21 from #22 last week.

Here's what all these websites had to say about the Jets:

ESPN: After scoring 48 points in the season opener, the Jets have recorded one offensive touchdown in their past two home games.

FOX Sports: I give the Jets credit for pulling out all the stops . . . a fake punt, fourth-down conversions, onside kick, CB Antonio Cromartie on offense. But it still wasn't enough.

CBS Sports: The offense is a joke. The in-and-out games with the quarterbacks don't work. This is a team with big problems.

ProFootballTalk: When "we only lost by six" and "we're still tied for second-place in the division" are the only positive things that can be said, maybe it’s time to stop talking.

ProFootballWeekly: Pulled out all the stops vs. Houston, but came up short in spirited effort.
