The New York Jets dramatically improved their position in power rankings after beating the Rams in Week 11, but last week's disgraceful performance against the Patriots put them pretty much back where they were a few weeks ago. Although ESPN, CBS Sports and ProFootball Weekly were in a forgiving mode, as they all lowered the Gang Green's stock by just one point. FOX Sports placed the Jets at #23, down from #20 a week ago. Finally, ProFootballTalk put Rex Ryan's team at #29, down from #22 a week ago, their lowest ranking since we started tracking them here.

The New York Jets showed some signs of life un Sunday, as they earned a road win against the St. Louis Rams, 27-13. Just when most experts and fans, myself included, had written them off, QB Mark Sanchez and Co. finally played a mistake free game. Granted, it was against the lowly Rams, but considering the team's disarray just a week ago, this was definitely a step in the right direction.

Following the blowout loss in Seattle, the Gang Green's stock took another hit in power rankings, as they have dropped out of the top 25 in four out of five polls. ESPN moved them from #25 to #26, while both FOX Sports and CBS Sports placed them at #27. ProFootballTalk lowered the Jets' position from #26 to #28. Finally, the biggest hit came from ProFootball Weekly, who placed Rex Ryan's team at #25 (down from #21 a week ago). The Jets have been falling in power rankings for 4 weeks in a row and a couple more losses will defiitely result in dropping out of the top 30, for the first time in recent history.
Once a bust is always a bust. LB Aaron Maybin, a former Buffalo first round pick who was deemed a bust before signing with the New York Jets last season and leading the team with six sacks, was cut by the Gang Green earlier today. After seemingly redeeming himself last season, Maybin struggled immensely in this year's campaign, recording just one tackle in eight games. He was inactive on Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks.

So much for the talk about coming off bye week with a different mindset and still making the playoffs - the Jets suffered another blowout loss in Seattle, as the offense once again failed to score any points. For the third time this season the Gang Green lost by 21 points or more and dropped to 3-6, following a 3-3 start.
