The latest editions of the NFL power rankings have the Jets remain pretty much where they were a week ago. The loss to the Packers seems to have only solidified the Gang Green's position around #20. ESPN and CNN SI decided to keep the Jets right where they were a week ago - at #21 and #19 respectively. FOX Sports had them one spot lower, from #20 to #21. CBS Sports and PFT reacted more aggressively, dropping the Jets by three and four spots. Finally, Yahoo Sports rather unexpectedly raised the Gang Green's stock to #14, four places up compared to a week ago.

The season opener win against the Oakland Raiders helped the New York Jets establish their presence in the top 20 of the NFL power rankings. Before Week 1 three out of the six websites we're tracking had Rex Ryan's team outside the top 20. This number has been reduced to just one, as ESPN kept the Gang Green at #21, just like a week ago. Fox Sports, who ranked the Jets at the lowest #22 a week ago, now has them at #20. The biggest jump up was with CBS Sports who now have the Jets at #17 (up from #21 a week ago). Both PFT and Yahoo Sports placed the Jets two spots higher than a week ago, at #16 and #18 respectively. CNN SI has them at #19, one spot above their previous ranking.

The Gang Green won their season opener yesterday, barely squeaking by the Oakland Raiders, 19-14. In a game where they pretty much dominated, Rex Ryan's team still managed to trail for most of the first half and then allowed Oakland to get within one score. It should have never been that close. The Jets faced a rookie quarterback and predictably limited the Raiders to only 11 first downs and 158 total yards.

And so it begins... another NFL season is upon us. The Jets' top offseason priority was upgrading their struggling offense. The Gang Green did just that, as they signed WR Eric Decker, RB Chris Johnson, and drafted a promising TE Jay Amaro to provide more weapons for QB Geno Smith. The defense, on the other hand, has huge holes at the cornerback position. So, according to all power rankings, the Jets are exactly where they were at the end of last season - trying to establish themselves inside the top 20.
