Jets acquire Ryan Fitzpatrick from Texans

Admin - March 11, 2015

The New York Jets continued their rebuilding process this morning, as they made a trade with the Houston Texans for QB Ryan Fitzpatrick. The Jets will give up a late round conditional pick in 2016. The Texans will get a conditional 7th round pick that can become a 6th based on how much playing time Fitzpatrick gets with the Jets.

Fitzpatrick, 32, started in 12 games for the Texans last season, completing 63.1% of his passes, 17 TD, 8 INT. Late in the season he broke his leg and was placed on the injured reserve. Fitzpatrick has ties to Jets offensive coordinator Chan Gailey. He played under Gailey for three seasons with the Bills (2010-2012), going 16-29 as a starter with 71 TD and 67 turnovers under Gailey in Buffalo.

Fitzpatrick is expected to fight for the starting job with QB Geno Smith, who's 11-18 as a starter for the Gang Green.
