As Jets season fades Darnold eyes return

Rookie Sam Darnold has watched the last two games, both losses, from the sidelines as 39-year-old Josh McCown has tried unsuccessfully to jumpstart a Jets' offense that refuses to launch. But the onus is not necessarily on McCown as New York's offense averaged a paltry 11 points per game in Darnold's last three appearances under center. The highly touted rookie has tossed a league-high 14 interceptions in just nine games and fans are beginning to wonder aloud whether the kid that conjured images of Joe Willy in Week 1 is rapidly morphing into Mark Sanchez 2.0.

    Jets Grounded for the Season

The Jets' bold move of trading up three places to obtain the third overall pick in the draft, landing them their most recent quarterback savior Sam Darnold, appeared to be a masterstroke after New York's 48-17 thrashing of the Lions in Motown in Week 1. Darnold's first pass as a pro was a pick-six and Jets Nation could be heard groaning in unison. But the worst thing that could have happened turned out to be the best because the can't-miss-kid out of USC demonstrated that adversity ain't nothin' but a thang and forged his way to a pair of touchdown strikes on 16-of-21 passing for 198 yards, a 116.8 passer rating, and most importantly a win.

As Todd Bowles pretty much sealed with fate last Sunday, getting embarrassed against the Buffalo Bills, it might be a good time to start looking for a replacement. Even though Bowles is reportedly going to last through the season, there's absolutely no way he keeps the job. The fans would revolt, as simple as that. As much as the Johnson brothers seem to love Bowles, they love profits even more. Money will be the deciding factor here.

Enough is enough, Bowles circus has to go

Another week, another disgraceful performance, another loss and Todd Bowles still has his job. If the pathetic showing against the Bears two weeks ago was bad, Bowles and Co. took it to an even lower level of ineptitude against the Bills in Week 10. The Bills, dead last In the division, had nothing to lose and came out fighting. First possession – two plays, 75 yards, touchdown. The Jets, on the other hand, were probably already thinking of the upcoming bye week. Once again there was no fire, no adjustments, no real game plan. It was Same Old Jets, Todd Bowles flavor.

Darnold disaster as Jets grounded again

Sam Darnold toiled through his worst performance as a pro in the team's 13-6 loss to Miami and tongues are already wagging about his future with the Jets. When the dust settled, Darnold had tossed for 229 yards, no touchdowns, and four interceptions which rendered a quarterback rating of 14.2. The kid took more hits than Mike Tyson on a bad night and at one point was seen limping off the field. The line of cellophane protecting him from the swarming Dolphins did little more than give the 21-year-old a moment to take the snap from center before his eyes widened and saw passing windows that were either nonexistent or tightening by the millisecond. Darnold was 21-of-39 and it was just enough to get Jason Myers within field goal range on three occasions, two of which he converted.
