Jets bolster defense by adding CJ Mosley

The Gang Green made another splash in free agency this morning, as they agreed to terms with LB C.J. Mosley, a 4-time Pro Bowler with the Ravens. The deal is reportedly for 5 years, $85M, including $51M in guaranteed money. $17M per years is the most committed to an inside linebacker in the NFL. Mosley, 26, is expected to start in the middle of the Jets' linebacking core alongside LB Avery Willamson.

Mosley was drafted by the Ravens at #17 overall in 2014. According to ESPN, he is one of two players to record at least 500 tackles, 8 sacks and 8 interceptions since he entered the NFL in 2014. Last year, Ray Lewis called Mosley the best middle linebacker in the league. Mosley had 100 tackles in every season except 2016, when he missed two games.

Yestrerday the Jets agreed to terms with another 4-time Pro Bowler, LB Anthony Barr, who's expected to start on the outside.

Free-agent deals cannot officially be signed until the new league year begins Wednesday.
