Adam Gase stays for at least another year

Well, Jets fans, prepare for more misery. Jets CEO Christopher Johnson announced today that Adam Gase is not going anywhere anytime soon. According to the NY Daily News, Johnson went as far as calling Gase a "good coach" and that he likes the "dynamic between his head coach and new GM Joe Douglas." Johnson also added that he liked Gase's work with QB Sam Darnold, despite the obvious signs that Darnold has regressed compared to his rookie season.

This announcement does not really come a surprise. Johnson would be admitting a colossal mistake if he made Gase a one and done head coach. This way they can always blame the injuries and wait out at least another year. We remember how long it took to get rid of Todd Bowles who produced one winning season, no playoffs and three straight last place finishes in the division. Bowles was bad but Gase looks even worse, much worse. Yet the Johnsons don't seem to care as long as they are making money.

Now what the Johnsons really need is a big distraction. Colin Kaepernick? Don't be surprised if the Gang Green bring him in. Obviously they wouldn't need him as a backup, if they wanted a backup they would have had someone better than Luke Falk, but rather as a huge distraction from the whole #FireAdamGase saga. The Johnsons like to make the headlines (remember Tim Tebow?) and bringing in someone like Kaepernick would perfectly serve that purpose.
