The season full of promises and expectations ended last night for the New York Jets, as their attempt to come back in the second half against the Pittsburgh Steelers fell just a little too short. After totally forgetting to show up on defense in the first half, the Gang Green desperately tried to salvage their campaign but 24-point deficit was simply too much to overcome. The Jets fought back admirably but you just don't win championships without playing all four quarters on a regular basis. They did so last week against New England and won. They failed to do so last night against the Steelers, and well the season is now over along with all the high expectations to finally end the 42-year drought.

The New York Jets will be without WR/KR Brad Smith today, as the Gang Green's versatile weapon is inactive today due to an injury suffered last week against the Colts. This is a major loss, as besides losing their star kickoff returner, the Jets also lost their wildcard formation. CB Antonio Cromartie will replace Smith as the kickoff return man. CB Drew Coleman, who was questionable for this game, is active. The other inactive players are FB John Conner, DE Vernon Gholston, DT Jarron Gilbert, TE Matt Mulligan, TE Jeff Cumberland and DT Marcus Dixon. QB Kellen Clemens is #3 emergency quarterback.
Well, this one hurts, especially considering that at one point the Jets were up by 11 but ended up losing 17-30 and shut out in the second half. QB Mark Sanchez probably played the best game of his NFL career - 17 of 30 for 257 yards, 2 TD, 1 INT. The loss of RB Shonn Greene surely hurt the Jets, as did the loss of CB Donald Strickland and the blatant roughing the passer non-call, but let's face it the Colts were just the better team today...
Around 5,200 screaming fans gathered this morning at the training facility in Florham Park, NJ to send the New York Jets off to Indianapolis. Hundreds of fans followed the team to Indianapolis where they greeted the Gang Green as they arrived at their downtown hotel.

They did it! Against all odds the New York Jets weathered the early storm to wear down the San Diego Chargers and win 17-14 on the road! The best defense in the NFL limited San Diego to only 4 of 13 on third downs and came up with two crucial interceptions to stop a potential scoring drive and then put the Jets in a scoring position.

CB Darrelle Revis finished second in The Associated Press 2009 NFL Defensive Player of the Year voting with 14 votes. CB Charles Woodson of the Green Bay Packers won the award with 28 votes. Despite shutting down elite wide receivers all season long, Revis just did not put up the stats impressive enough to challenge Woodson for the award. Revis finished regular season with 6 interceptions and 1 touchdown. Woodson, on the other hand, recorded 9 interceptions, 3 touchdowns and 4 forced fumbles.
The New York Jets played basically a mistake free game, as they defeated the Cincinnati Bengals on the road, 24-14, and are through to the Divisional Playoffs. Both rookies, QB Mark Sanchez and RB Shonn Greene, played pivotal roles in this great win. Sanchez, battling both single degree wind chills and playoff pressure, performed admirably. He completed 12 of 15 passes for 182 yards, 1 TD and 0 INT. He became the first rookie quarterback who completed over 70% of his passes in a playoff game. Greene ran for 135 yards on 21 carries (6.4 yards per carry) and scored the first Jets' touchdown on a 39-yard run in the second quarter.

The New York Jets scored two touchdowns in the second quarter and have a 14-7 lead at halftime of their playoff contest against the Cincinnati Bengals. The Gang Green started the game rather shaky, allowing a long kickoff return deep in their territory. Cincinnati's two turnovers and two big plays from the Jets' offense turned the game around, as the Gang Green managed to overcome their early struggles.

MLB David Harris returned to practice this morning after missing Tuesday and Wednesday sessions. Although, the official injury report lists his participation in the session as limited.
