The New York Jets will open the 2013 preseason on the road against the Detroit Lions, which will be their only preseason game away from Metlife Stadium. In preseason week 2 the Gang Green will host the Jacksonville Jaguars, following by the annual preseason game against the New York Giants. In the final preseason week the Jets will host the Eagles.

OT Wayne Hunter, who struggled immensely in the first two preseason games, has been demoted from his starting role. He will be used as the sixth offensive lineman, coming in for jumbo packages, a role he previously succeeded in for the Jets. Rex Ryan said the Jets would give third-year player OT Austin Howard the chance to earn the job in the third preseason game against the Carolina Panthers.

The annual Battle of New York wasn't much of a contest, as the New York Giants routed Rex Ryan's Jets, 26-3. For the second week in a row the Jets struggled on offense, managing to score just three points. It's only preseason but there are quite a few alarming signs that better be fixed sooner than later, or we might be looking at a 6-8 win season at best.

Rookie DE Quinton Coples had an impressive debut against the Cincinnati Bengals on Friday night, registering a sack, five tackles, forcing a fumble and knocking down a pass. The offense, however, managed to gain only 173 total yards, as the Jets dropped the preseason opener, 17-6.

The New York Jets are set to open their preseason against the Bengals in Cincinnati, according to the Preseason schedule that was released earlier today. There's no set date yet but the game will take place between August 9th and August 13th. In Week 2 the Gang Green will play against their crosstown rivals, the New York Giants. Then, in Week 3 the Jets will host the Carolina Panthers on August 26th. Finally, in Week 4 the Jets will travel to Philadelphia to take on the Eagles.

The Jets had all of their starters, except for rookie DE Muhammad Wilkerson, sit out tonight's game against the Philadelphia Eagles, as the coaching staff wanted to see their backups give it one last try to make the squad. QB Greg McElroy started the game and was expected to play at least three quarters but got sidelined with a thumb injury, which appeared to be rather serious. He will have an MRI tomorrow. While in the game, McElroy was just 3 of 6 for 29 yards.

Tomorrow's game against the New York Giants has been postponed till Monday due to the approaching hurricane Irene. The game was originally scheduled for 7pm, then moved to 2pm when it became obvious that the tri-state area will be hit by the hurricane late Saturday. But with the mass transit getting shut down at noon tomorrow, it was a smart choice to postpone the game till Monday.

WR Plaxico Burress took the field for the first time in 3 years and instantly silenced his doubters tonight. Gang Green's risky free agent acquisition started opposite of WR Santonio Holmes and caught 3 passes for 66 yards, including a 26-yard touchdown pass from QB Mark Sanchez in the final minute of the first half. The Jets went to Burress right from the start, as Sanchez connected with him on the first play from scrimmage for 20 yards.

The New York Jets opened preseason in Houston last night, losing to the Texans, 20-16. The first team offense was on the field for only two series, while the starting defense played for the entire first quarter. QB Mark Sanchez, who did not have WR Plaxico Burress to throw to, completed 6 of 7 passes for 43 yards, 0 TD, 0 INT. WR Santonio Holmes caught both passes thrown to him for a total of 17 yards. Recently signed WR Derrick Mason seemed to have already blended into the offense - 3 receptions for 21 yards. RB Shonn Greene had 5 carries for 32 yards, including a 19-yard run.
After a couple of rather hectic weeks of free agency, the Jets find themselves in a bit of trouble at one position where they were among the strongest in the NFL last season - wide receiver. Only one member of last season's "Flight Boys" is still with the Jets, Santonio Holmes. The other two, Braylon Edwards and Jerricho Cotchery, are gone and replaced with big question marks or not replaced at all.

According to some rumors, the Jets will not compete for the services of WR/KR Brad Smith, who's going to become an unrestricted free agent once the lockout is officially over. CB Antonio Cromartie, who recently stated that the Gang Green will receive "no hometown discount" if they try to re-sign him, will be let go as well. The team also will not re-sign S Eric Smith.
The NFL announced its preseason schedule Tuesday - assuming the lockout is over in time for games to be played in August. The New York Jets will begin their preseason on the road against the Houston Texans. The game will be televised in primetime on Monday, Aug. 15 on ESPN.
Both the Jets and the Giants will play in the first ever football game at the New Meadowlands, as the teams will face each other in the first preseason game of the upcoming season on August 16th. The Gang Green will also open their regular season with a Monday Night game at the new stadium, while the Giants open their season there the day before.

The New York Jets defeated the Philadelphia Eagles in the final preseason game of the year, 38-27. The starters played only one series and while the offense impressed with a touchdown drive, the defense clearly struggled as they gave up six points. QB Mark Sanchez was a perfect 5 of 5 for 67 yards and a touchdown to WR Jerricho Cotchery. Keep in mind though that this was against a "vanilla" defense, which wasn't as aggressive as if this was a regular season game.
Tonight the New York Jets will take on the Philadelphia Eagles in the final preseason game of the season. The starters are expected to play just one series, leaving plenty of time for the players battling for the remaining roster spots. As head coach Rex Ryan said the other day, there are still about half dozen roster spots up for grabs, and tonight's game is basically the final chance for backups to claim them.
According to head coach Rex Ryan, there are about six spots still up for grabs on the projected 53-man roster that every NFL team must finalize by 4 PM EST this Saturday. The Jets currently have 75 players on their roster and will have to cut 20 of them to comply with the league's rules (the Jets will be allowed to carry two players over the limit due to the upcoming suspensions for LB Calvin Pace and DE Shaun Ellis). Once these cuts are finalized, the Gang Green will be able to put 8 players on their practice squad.

Head coach Rex Ryan got his first win last night against the New York Giants, as the Jets came from behind to defeat their cross-town rivals, 27-25. This was also the first game that QB Mark Sanchez played since being officially named the Jets' starting quarterback, and he played well. Sanchez looked better than in the first two games, as he showed plenty of poise, good decision making, ability to make tough throws and improvise on the fly. Sanchez went 13 of 20 for 149 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT.
For the second game in a row QB Mark Sanchez started slowly and then noticeably picked it up as the game progressed. Following a few empty possessions to start the half, Sanchez found his rhythm and led the Jets on a 62-yard drive that culminated in a 31-yard touchdown pass to WR Chansi Stuckey.
All eyes will be on QB Mark Sanchez tonight as he'll make his first start since being officially named the Jets' starting quarterback. Cross-town rivals, the New York Giants, will represent a formidable test for Sanchez, who struggled against the Ravens' starting defense on Monday. The Giants will be coming off a 17-3 loss to the Chicago Bears and will be obviously looking for some kind of redemption.
Rookie RB Shonn Greene will miss the upcoming game against the New York Giants and possibly the final preseason game against the Eagles as well. Greene suffered a rib injury in the game against the Ravens where he carried the ball twice for a total of 5 yards and also caught a 15-yard pass. Green had also gotten banged up on several occasions during training camp, so the question might be asked whether the rookie can stay healthy at all... So, don't expect RB Thomas Jones to get traded anytime soon.

Another preseason game is in the bag, but the Jets' quarterback situation seems to be as inconclusive as it was before preseason even began. Both QB Mark Sanchez and QB Kellen Clemens struggled last night, both threw interceptions returned for touchdowns. Sanchez went 3 of 8 for 43 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT. Clemens was 5 of 10 for 60 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT.

Both QB Mark Sanchez and QB Kellen Clemens threw interceptions in the first half against the Baltimore Ravens. First, Sanchez found himself under pressure and forced a quick pass that was picked off and returned for a touchdown. Sanchez struggled for the most part of the first half, but did step up on his final drive, as he connected with RB Leon Washington for a 19-yard touchdown pass. Washington was outstanding in the first half - 48 yards on 8 carries, 35 yards on 2 receptions, 1TD.
The battle for the starting quarterback position will reach its peak tomorrow when the Jets take on head coach Rex Ryan's former team, the Baltimore Ravens. Ryan spent the past 10 years with the Ravens, including last year as the team’s assistant head coach and defensive coordinator.

Rookie QB Mark Sanchez will be the starting quarterback against the Baltimore Ravens in the nationally televised game on Monday, August 24. The announcement was made earlier today by head coach Rex Ryan. This is going to be a real test for the rookie, as he'll be facing one of the best defensive units in the NFL.

The Rex Ryan era officially began last night when the New York Jets took on the Saint Louis Rams in the first preseason game of 2009. Despite losing the game 23-20, the Gang Green played well and showed us plenty to look forward to both on defense and offense. The defense looked much more aggressive than in recent years, utilizing various blitzes and schemes that were unleashed from the get go.

What an entrance by QB Mark Sanchez! On his first ever play in the NFL the high prized Jets' rookie connected on a 48-yard pass with WR David Clowney. Sanchez followed with a couple of nice completions to TE Dustin Keller and the Jets took an early 10-3 lead on a Thomas Jones' TD run.
Two former defensive coordinators will make their head coaching debuts tomorrow as Rams head coach Steve Spagnuolo returns to Giants Stadium to face Rex Ryan's New York Jets. Rookie QB Mark Sanchez is also expected to make his much anticipated NFL debut. So, let's take a look at some of the upcoming position battles as well as just what players Jets' fans should be looking at closely...

QB Mark Sanchez and QB Kellen Clemens, who are competing for the starting quarterback position, will play only in the first half this Friday against the Saint Louis Rams. They will be line up behind the depleted offensive line that will be missing both C Nick Mangold and OT Damien Woody, both are out with injuries. C Rob Turner and OT Wayne Hunter will replace them in the lineup.
The National Football League has announced that the New York Jets will face Saint Louis, Baltimore, NY Giants and Philadelphia in preseason. The matchup against head coach Rex Ryan's former team, the Baltimore Ravens, will be nationally televised by ESPN on August 24th.
The New York Jets improved to 2-1 in preseason as they defeated the New York Giants, 13-10. In a game that was dominated by both teams' defenses it was the Gang Green who made more big plays, limiting the Giants to only 122 passing yards and sacking their quarterbacks 8 times.
All eyes were once again on QB Brett Favre as the 3-time NFL MVP played his first game in a New York Jets uniform. Favre played two series, throwing a touchdown pass to rookie TE Dustin Keller to cap the second Jets' possession of the game.
