The New York Jets acquired WR Santonio Holmes from the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday night for a fifth-round draft in the 2010 NFL Draft. Holmes, the 2009 Super Bowl MVP, caught 79 passes for 1,248 yards, 5 TDs last season. He has 235 career catches for 3,835 yards and 20 touchdowns, but also brings his share of off-field issues, which could explain why the Jets only had to give up their 5th round pick for him.

This move hardly comes as a surprise, as Rhodes has stated quite a few times that he wanted out and his soft playing style didn't exactly fit in Rex Ryan's aggressive defense.

Braylon Edwards To Jets - Trade Facts

Early this morning the New York Jets acquired WR Braylon Edwards from the Cleveland Browns - a tall speedy wide receiver that the Jets have been looking for since Rex Ryan took over as head coach. The addition of Edwards gives the Gang Green a proven vertical threat that basically makes the offense complete. The Jets now have two viable options at wide receiver, Edwards and Cotchery, an up and coming pass-catching tight end in Dustin Keller, along with two Pro Bowl running backs in the backfield. The presence of Edwards should also help the running game, as defenses will have to respect the Jets' deep passing attack.

According to various news sources, the New York Jets acquired QB Brett Favre from the Green Bay Packers. Favre, 38, is an all-time NFL passing leader coming off one of the best seasons in his long career. It's believed that the Jets will send to Green Bay their 4th round draft pick that increases in value depending upon how the Jets perform during the 2008 season. According to the NFL Network, if Favre takes 50% of total snaps with the Jets in 2008, the fourth rounder becomes a 3rd round pick. If he gets 70% of the snaps and the Jets make the playoffs, it becomes a 2nd round pick; and if he gets 80% of snaps and the Jets make the Super Bowl, it becomes a 1st round pick.
