The Jets loss to Buffalo put a huge damper on their playoff aspirations. Not only did they slip to 7-6, they were embarrassed at home. A Jets media bandwagon was already loading supplies and now they are jumping ship as if they were on the Titanic.
Now it is time to look past that debacle in New Jersey. Off to Minnesota, where the Jets take on the Vikings. This is a must win game for our Jets. As a matter of fact, the last 3 games are must win games. Mangini and Company. are looking to overcome the Jets past late season collapses. Have they turned the corner or is this the "Same Old Jets"? Well, lets take a look at the Jets playoff hopes.
First and foremost, the Jets need to win out. Yes, there is a chance they can make the playoffs if they finish 9-7. But, I also have a chance at winning the Florida Lottery.
Here are the Jets "enemies".
Patriots: 9-4 Texans, @Jaguars, @Titans
Bengals: 8-5 @Colts, @Broncos, Steelers
Jaguars: 8-5 @Titans, Patriots, @ Chiefs
Jets: 7-6 @Vikings, @Dolphins, Raiders
Chiefs: 7-6 @Chargers, @Raiders, Jaguars
Broncos: 7-6 @Cardinals, Bengals, 49ers
I feel the AFC East is out of reach, but for our eternal optimists, if the Pats lose their last 3 games, and the Jets win their last 3, The Jets are AFC East Champs. Not going to happen, but dreamers can dream.
Onto the Bengals, we all should be HUGE Colts fans this week. The Ravens seem to have that Division locked. And with their next game at Denver, they are on a tough road. More about Denver later.
Next up is the Jaguars. They are at the Titans this week. This may seem like a win for the Jags, but the Jags are only 2-4 on the road and the Titans are on a 4 game win streak. Lets go TITANS!
Now it is time for Chiefs talk. They are at San Diego. I can not see the Chargers dropping a home game here. They are 6-0 at home and look to avenge a loss to KC ealier this year. Plus, San Diego is looking to sew up the #1 Seed for the playoffs. A loss here and Jets win all but eliminates KC from the playoffs. Go SD!!!!
Last, but not least, Denver. The Broncos are on the road vs. the Cardinals. Denver has lost their last 4 games. All to playoff caliber teams. I do not see them losing here, but in the spirit of this editorial, I am a Cards fan. The Cards win and the Jets have 1 less worry. I do see the Broncos winning, but they play Cinncinatti next week. And that is a HUGE game for the Jets. IF, and only if, the Jets beat Minnesota.
So in summary Jets fans, we are all fans of (In order of need):
Indianapolis
Tennessee
San Diego
Houston
Arizona
