I've really never heard that but it wouldn't shock me. It just seems that it's the first one that gets you over the hump. Kids in HS having it done prophylactically so as to ward off fears of being forced to have the surgery at the worst time (scholarship, draft, first FA contract). I feel better for him already having it done. _
Brandon Beachy, Brian Wilson, Josh Johnson, Kris Medlen and Jarrod Parker all had the surgery two times.
Travis d'Arnaud with a 3 run homer. And a double. Feeling good about this kid. Hitting about .290 since he's been back from Vegas. _
Well, that's not a complete list. The point, anyway, is that it could happen again to deGrom. The question on him is how many more starts is he allowed before being moved to the bullpen.
Heard mixed messages there. He's coming up on his innings limit (I think 185 or so is the max they'll let him go) but that Terry said he's good until September. _
That seems about right, I read somewhere that their program is to increase innings by about 30-40 innings a year for the younger pitchers as they move through the minors up to the big league.
The Mets need hitters. No really good hitters were going to be available today. If the Mets are going to make a big trade where they ship out Syndergaard and Montero and/or Gee and/or some other guys for a hitter or two it will happen at the Winter Meetings or shortly thereafter. Colon won't get the Mets much more than a middling hitter prospect unless somebody gets really desperate in August. The best type of established player they could get for Colon would be a nice player. You know, like a Daniel Murphy or Martin Prado type.
