The PROBLEM with this thinking is the Seahawks had their draft picks ON their team for them to mold into players. How many of Idzik's draft picks aren't even ON the Jets anymore??

What do your eyes tell you? There is ONE starter from a class of 12...on a 3-11 team. three starters from about 20 draft picks over two years. And virtually all of the receivers drafted or FAs have been let go. Don't tell me not to say they've busted. Tell me who you think has shown that they might become a valuable contributor. Don't tell me to make a comparison of the Seahawks draft and then not have a shred of evidence why ours should be looked at similarly.

Well whomever this highly placed source in Jets organization is, he needs to be fired as well. What exactly does Idzik deserve credit for from last year? The team went 8-8 winning a few meaningless games when the season was already over.

His drafts have been horrible and that is the number one reason he should be fired.

    *Amaro-starter

*Pryor-starter being used out of position by Rex

*Mcdougle- injured but I'm betting he will be a nice surprise for the jets based on his game film. I don't like the pick in the 3rd round but I understand why, rex needs CB for his scheme to work.

    Saunders- Cut, Seattle practice squad

    *Reilly- starter on special teams

    Quincy-PS

IK- inactive, I don't know why they don't give him more snaps.

    Jeremiah George- Jacksonville jags

*Dozier- redshirt, going to be used in guard position next year.

Dixon- playing for tampa bay in a cover 2.

It's not one starter, it's 3 and next year I believe mcdougle will also be a starter and Dozier will replace Colon as a guard. He is highly rated as a guard prospect.

Are they all going to be all pro? No, and you guys are smart enough to realize that not everyone drafted is going to have an immediate impact.

More like two, but, ok. And, really, you're totally speculating about Dozier. There's been no news about his abilities that I have heard. and then there's the fact that before he got injured, Winters was highly touted (in addition to being drafted in the 3rd round) and he was mostly a poor run-blocking turnstile.

I'm not all that aware of Seattle's roster, if we're comparing rosters, but the Jets are hardly a uber-talented team. And they had a pretty good drafting spot. The results from last year's draft were minimal. The contributions from this year's draft, about the same. And this year's team's record is currently 3-11. From my perspective, the primary reasons for this year's poor record are the poor performance of the GM. Most of the draft picks have either been injured (and had a history of being injured) or have underperformed. And the OL hasn't been addressed adequately during his tenure, which includes marginally performing free agents and under performing draft picks. The Jets OL is as bad as it was before Idzik arrived and was a known issue, as was the WR corps, which is really not much better than it was before he arrived (without the Harvin trade it would be worse).

You can defend his record, but your defense doesn't pass the smell test. We STINK!! and the same problem areas persist.

I did not draft the report on Dozier, it was done by professional scouts. Could they be wrong of course, but if he plays similar to Aboushi then the jets have settled their guard positions for the future.

In regards to Aboushi, he has already outplayed winters in what 4-5 games? And he is getting better every game, Winters has had over a year and he stunk, so it's no big loss to the jets. It's actually a win for the jets because now Aboushi can solidify that LG spot and the jets don't have to spend money in FA for a left guard.

Im not pro Idzik, and I did find fault in some of his selections, specifically the mcdougle pick in the 3rd round, but I understood the pick, JI is trying to get players that rex needs for his defensive scheme to work.

If you had read some of my other posts, you would see that my biggest critique of Idzik was the selection of Geno Smith as the jets QB, he gambled the house on Geno and he lost big time, our offense, specifically Geno has not put the offense over the hump, the offense has not produced anything remotely comparable to a professional passing game.

My problem with the anti Idzik perspective is, guys can't admit that from the 2014 draft, the jets have 3 starters, Reily, Amaro and Pryor, albeit in three different facets, because you want to keep to your point of view that JI is the only reason the jets are bad, and they count injuries against him as a GM like he has control over those things.

Truthfully, I don't care if they fire JI, I don't want to see it happen after 2 years, but if it does happen, I'm not losing sleep over it, I'm going to root for the jets and wait another 2 years and see the results of whoever it is they bring in.

Amaro not starting is Rex being Rex, showing loyalty to his vets. Amaro will be a starter next year.

Just because a shitty player starts on a 3-11 team really doesn't make the player good. Pryor starts (and has been benched) because, really, who else can start? Aboushi starts, again, because who else is going to start. Reily is not a starter; he's a special teamer. My point of view goes way beyond the dearth of starters. I dislike the job Idzik has done overall for numerous reasons, which most Idzik detractors have recognized.

Idzik's talent evaluation has been poor, in my opinion. And misguided. And he seems to value NOT spending money over fielding a winning team. I'll explain each of these facets:

Poor talent evaluation: the OL he's drafted and paid for in free agency have performed poorly. Winters was weak and un-athletic. Aboushi, while better than Winters has not performed all that well. Colon and Giacomini are simply not that good, one is a penalty waiting to happen and no great shakes pass blocking. The other is JAG and performs below the guy he replaced. The WRs he drafted (did he draft Stephen Hill?) have been abysmal, either too small or just plain crap.

Misguided talent acquisition: The focus on the TE position, while Amaro has performed decently, when the WR position was the greater need and when he had the resources to address this need, seems to miss the big picture. The pick of a strong safety when the Jets had greater needs at CB and any number of other areas missed addressing a greater need. The CB he eventually signed this free agent period was a total loser and didn't even survive training camp. Mark Goodson? 'nuff said. Meanwhile, teams with the exact same need(s) got what they needed.

Frugality: It should be considered a sin to have as much cap room as the Jets do and field as un-athletic, losing team as the Jets have. If you were an owner, would you rather have $20 mil in cap space or a winning team? If you answer $20 mil then you really shouldn't be an owner. At least I wouldn't want you owning the team I root for.

Bottom Line: the Jets are 3-11 after being 8-8. They have many of the same needs they've had for two years, with all the draft choices and all the cap room they could have used more wisely to field a much better team. They will need to start over, again, with new leadership. This is not the performance I feel is adequate for the team's leadership.

It's funny, the same guys who want to keep Idzik want to throw Geno Smith under the bus. Even though Geno has no control over the crap they line up to protect him and to catch his passes. At least Idzik's performance is of his own making. Geno has to suffer his fate having depended on Idzik to provide him with the resources, which anyone can see aren't adequate.

I think Idzik will stay but they'll bring in a new player personnel guy. Of course Rod Graves is presently working for the Jets. If Woody fires Idzik it will make him look bad because he hired him. It could be that the new role for Idzik is glorified cap specialist with a bigger title. Similar to what he did with the Seahawks. IMO he deserves at least one more year and a third draft before being demoted. But Woody after all the bad press could take some action.

Just asking, but did Idzik also select all the opponents who Geno has thrown interceptions too?

Really, I always thought you got to pick your own schedule.

I was speaking with bit tongue in cheek - meaning did our esteemed GM pick the ACTUAL PLAYERS that Geno has thrown his interceptions to.

Idzik 's biggest weakness as a GM is that he hasn't been one--he's been picking the guys Rex Ryan wants to draft. The jets last 6 number one picks and 2 out of the top 3 in the last 4 drafts have been on defense--THAT is why they stink. Rex Ryan only sees one side of the ball, and he drafts so many guys on defense he can't even find room to play some of his number one picks so he puts them out of position ,i.e. Coples. Idzik should have told Rex to shut his fat mouth in the draft room when Rex was pressing for for Millner, Pryor, McDougle, etc. and all the only picks that Rex wasted. I think Idzik should go because he hasn't got the balls to run his own draft, he just listens to his idiot coach who is so far over his head on draft day and has never grasped that you need to field a team on offense too.

I don't think you can definitively state that because defensive players have been chosen that automatically Rex Ryan is responsible for the Jets picking them. Your post seems to want to attribute everything bad in the players selected to Rex Ryan. And you're basing it solely on that they are defensive selections. Well, what about Stephen Hill? Brian Winters, the WR class of 2014? These are all offensive selections that suck. Are they ALL Rex Ryan selections?

I really liked Ryan. But I think it's time for him to go because the team hasn't responded well to him this year. I wouldn't call him an idiot. And I don't think he was responsible for all the bad choices that the Jets have made. And, in any event, it's not his job to be responsible. The Jets have a scouting department and a GM who ultimately should be held accountable. I'm not going to agree with your anti-Ryan rant, blaming him for things that he's not even responsible for and for which you have ZERO first-hand knowledge. You don't like Ryan? You can rightly blame him for his coaching blunders. But you can't rightly blame him for selecting players or that he's told the GM to select them. You just can't know for sure.

Yeah, I got that. It seemed like a cheap shot so I figured I would respond in kind. Fans like you are constantly complaining about QB play when, in reality, QB play is greatly dependent on the OL, the receivers winning convincingly. Playing QB is EASY when your line is dominating and your receivers win at the LoS and have a speed advantage. It's much harder when you rarely have time and you have to throw into very tight windows AND you're inexperienced.

The Jets QBs have sucked in no small part because the entire offense sucks. Piling on a 2nd-year QB when the Jets have fielded one of the worst OLs and WR corps seems myopic and petty.

Idzik was suppose to make the team better

By some miracle he made us worse

He has to go before he does more damage

A lot of good GM candidates out there gonna get scooped up while we stick to the village idiot
