The thing about the Tits is they have no money players, more or less. If you are their GM, and you think Mettenberger has a real chance to make it as a quality NFL Qb, and knowing the interest others have in Mariota (assuming Winston goes to Tampa), then why not trade out of the spot for a decent enough package? Last couple of days I and some others have talked about Wilkerson as potentially part of a trade. Add in the 6th pick with perhaps a pick back from Tenn lower in the draft, and that gives the Tits a high quality starter at DL and still able to pick at 6th in the draft. They could still get a Qb with their second pick. The lower pick they give the Jets could be next year's second, or perhaps this year's third with a future pick at some level. Another alternative is the Jets give Tenn next year's first round pick instead of Wilkerson, but I like that deal less (since I am assuming Wilkerson is trade material because of difficulties with contract negotiations, and the Jets still have plenty of depth at DL even if they trade him). So yes, I can see the Tits trading out, and the Jets are in a position to offer them a nice package.
From Tennessee's perspective that is a deal I would take, but it all depends on SD being willing to move beyond the Rivers era. That part I see not so much.
