If Petty played I would disagree with you, but since a 38 yr old journeyman won the game I agree with you...
They lost their starting QB and then overpaid an a-hole QB who is just there to collect a check. I also think it was possible they underestimated us.
Tannyball effect is going to hit the dolphags come spring 2018. Jarvis Landry is UFA after this season. Ajayi and DeVante Parker coming up the next season. That's their young nucleus of skill players. Good luck. [LOL] Kenny Stils might stay until 2018, but it's highly likely that he's gone after that. [Likely cap casualty.] P.S. I didn't even bother with the defense, but then their defense is an utter trash anyway.
I don't know if we'll have the same Offense next year, but Jarvis Landry would be a perfect fit. He'd also finally solve the punt returner issue. Make it happen Tanny!
Wanna know what's even better? Dolphags have about 1.5m cap space this year. Next year? 6.5 Landry isn't staying in Miami. You heard it here first. [LOL] Even funnier? Biggest cap saving next year would happen if they cut Tannehill.
Still subtract about $10-$12 million for draft picks and general cap maneuverability and they barely have anything to work with. Both their free safeties are free agents (FS Nate Allen, backup FS Michael Thomas). Starting CB Alterraun Verner, starting G Jermon Bushrod, starting WR Jarvis Landry, backup RB Damian Williams, and backup DE William Hayes are all free agents. Cut Maxwell, Thomas and Wake and they have to fill 7 starting positions to fill. They're in absolute cap hell, no thanks to Tanny. Suh, Tannehill, Rashad Jones, Byron Maxwell and Andre Branch account for $77.475 of their cap space. That's nearly half of their cap space for 2018. Let's add the next few players. Adding in Kenny Stills, Ju'wuan James, Kiko Alonso, and Mike Pouncey and that brings the total up to $115.216 million. That's 70% of their cap space tied into 9 players. Not only is Landry a free agent this year, but WR DeVante Parker, RB Jay Ajayi and RT Ja'Wuan James are all going to command new deals soon. They also have $8.225 million tied up into Lawrence Timmons who had a mental breakdown and no showed and is not really contributing right now. Brilliant. It really sucks for the Dolphins because they've been drafting well. The Dolphins can obviously free up a lot of space by cutting a lot of these players. But they will also be creating a lot of holes in this team.
Not at all. We have tons of cap space, and a youthful (albeit inexperienced) core. They have a veteran core and will be in cap hell for the better part of the next three years. As good as Suh is, no non-quarterback is worth $26 million and his contract escalates to $28 million in 2019.
No, that's the farthest from the truth. Most Jets fan are heterosexuals. Not that there's anything wrong with being a Dolphins fan.
Maxwell is good for 10M - Okay. Julius Thomas is tagged at 6.6, and Cam Wake at 8.1M. A shade under 25M - and half of that will have to go to the rookies. 12M, with a cap space of 6M will leave 18M. They will have to draft two safeties in the first two [like Jets did last year] then hope that 3rd round OG will be good enough to replace leaving G in Bushrod. Then they will need a pass rusher and a starting CB to fit in that 18M space [won't work] and then they won't have any money left over for Jarvis Landry. [I am literally laughing on the ground rolling at this. LOL.]
This goes along with what I was saying in the other thread about the importance of having a talented core of young players all playing on their rookie contracts.....once FA hits, it breaks up the team (as FA is supposed to do)
