Players Strike

July 9, 1974
Jets open training camp with 31 rookies and one veteran as the NFLPA strike begins.

Preseason Opens

August 3, 1974
Playing with a team composed mainly of rookies the Jets defeated Denver 41-19 in the opening preseason game. John Jones was at QB.

Jets Move To Hofstra

September 3, 1974
Jets took occupancy of their new training center at Hofstra University in Hempstead N.Y. The center contains coaches offices, players' quarters and full practice facilities.

New Haven Victory

November 10, 1974
After going 1-7 over the first part of the year the Jets snapped their slump with a tingling 26-20 overtime victory over the Giants at Yale Bowl. Joe Namath threw six yards to Emerson Boozer for the winning points and had a bootleg TD to tie the score.

Ewbank Retires as VP

November 12, 1974
Weeb Ewbank announces that he will retire as vice president of the Jets at the end of the season.

Winning Streak

December 15, 1974
Jets close out the season with six consecutive victories to provide a 7-7 season. Included in the streak were upsets over playoff-bound Miami and Buffalo.
