Michaels Picked Coach of Year

Walt Michaels, who kept the youngest team in the NFL in playoff contention for 15 games, was named AFC Coach of the Year by UPI and the Pro Football Writers of America.

Ewbank Named to Hall of Fame

Weeb Ewbank, who guided the Jets from 1963-73 and was the only coach to win world championships in both the NFL and AFL, was selected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Jets Change Logo & Uniform

February 27, 1978
For the first time since 1963, the Jets changed their uniform design. The team also adopted a new logo and changed the helmet to green.

Jets Win First Debut since 1972

September 3, 1978
Opening the season at home for the first time since 1964, the Jets upset Miami 33-20 behind Richard Todd's three TD passes. It was the first Jets' opening-day win in seven years.

Walker Selected to Pro Bowl
