Leon Hess assumed full ownership of the team as Helen Dillon, a partner since 1968, sold her 25% interest in the club.

Jets Trade Richard Todd

February 18, 1984
The Jets concluded a full week of trading by sending QB Richard Todd to New Orleans for a first round pick (15th overall). Earlier in the week the Jets acquired a second round draft choice by trading Abdul Salaam and Kenny Neil to San Diego.

First Game at Meadowlands

September 6, 1984
Jets moved into Giants Stadium in the Meadowlands dropping a 23-17 decision to Pittsburgh in a nationally televised Thursday night game despite a 97-yard KOR for a TD by Bobby Humphery.

Jets vs. Giants

December 2, 1984
The Giants evened the regular season series between the two teams at two each with a 20-10 win. The loss overshadowed a fine performance by QB Ken O'Brien who finished with 28-40-351-1 TD. Freeman McNeil, the AFC's leading rusher at the time, played the game with a broken rib which ended his season. McNeil finished with 1070 yards rushing, the most ever by a Jet.

Pro Bowlers, MVP

December 13, 1984
Freeman McNeil is named MVP by his teammates for the second time in addition to being voted to the Pro Bowl. Mark Gastineau leads the NFL in sacks for the second straight year and is also named to the Pro Bowl (Dec. 13), where he earned MVP honors, and set the official NFL record for sacks with 22. Joe Klecko, named as an alternate, also plays in the game following an injury to Bob Baumhower.
