Jets Draft Cornerback In Round 4

added on 04/27/2008 12:52 PM

The New York Jets selected CB Dwight Lowery from San Jose State in the fourth round (#113 overall). Lowery, 6'0", 201lbs, started in 12 games as a senior, intercepting 4 passes. He had a better year as a junior when he picked off 9 passes and recovered 3 fumbles.

According to the Pro Football Weekly Draft Guide, Lowery "struggles in man coverage... is still raw but does a nice job of capitalizing on mistakes. His size and ball skills will give him a shot in a zone scheme, but limited athleticism and unrefined technique could prevent him from ever being more than a nickel defender."

The Gang Green have 3 more selections in this draft: #27 in round 5 (#162 overall), #5 in round 6 (#171 overall), #4 in round 7 (#211 overall).
