Sparano, who previously served as head coach of the Miami Dolphins, was instrumental in turning a 1-15 Dolphins into an 11-5 team in just one year. His next three seasons weren't as successful though as Miami failed to make the playoffs eventually leading to Sparano's dismissal.

Schotty Is Gone, Expected To Be Replaced By Sparano

Jets fans received excellent news late Tuesday night, as the New York Jets announced that offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer will not return to the team for the 2012 season. This is illustrated best when you look at his military service. At the age of 18, Buddy was given a field promotion to Master Sergeant in the US Army’s 45th Infantry during the height of the Korean War. If stories can be believed, he spent much of that time punching his own soldiers in their peach fuzz-covered faces when their courage faltered and they became a danger to the soldiers with whom they shared foxholes. They were putting Buddy’s men in harm’s way, and he was finding any way he could to get them to keep fighting.

Jets Fall In Miami, Miss Playoffs

This was another must win, although the Jets would not have made the playoffs anyway if they had won, but for the third straight week the Gang Green simply forgot to show up, losing to Miami, 19-17. As the final seconds of the Jets' disappointing season were ticking off the clock, WR Santonio Holmes was sitting on the bench after being taken out of the game by the Jets' coaching staff. This was a fitting end to this disastrous season that started with Super Bowl promises and ended with a 3-game losing streak and reported locker room turmoil afterwards.

Does Sanchez Deserve the Blame?

There’s a lot of blame to go around for the offense’s woes this season. Mark Sanchez is usually more than willing to accept responsibility and the blame for these issues. But how much of the blame should be placed on Mark?

Same Old Jets Make Their Return

This wasn't just another must win game with a playoff berth on the line, but another must win game against the cross-town rivals, the New York Giants, whose season also depended on the outcome of this contest. All the hype, pressure, trashtalking, big expectations in what was probably the biggest, most anticipated game of the season - they lost it, just like many Jets teams before them. These were the Same Old Jets all over again. The Same Old Jets that comfortably led two AFC Championship Games, among many other must-wins, only to find another way to lose.

A Christmas Carol - Ghost Story of the New York Jets

I: Being a Ghost Story of the New York Jets
The Eagles game was dead, to begin with. There is no doubt whatever about that.
