The New York Jets re-signed LS Tanner Purdum, who was a non-tendered restricted free agent, to a 2-year contract. Purdum has been a steady long snapper since 2010. The Jets opted not to place the low tender ($1.32 million) on him with the hope of re-signing him at a lower price. Purdum will be the second long snapper on the Jets roster heading into training camp. LS Travis Tripucka, a Mountain Lakes High grad and former St. Louis Rams practice squad member, is also currently on the roster.

It took a few days but the New York Jets have finally signed a free agent early Friday. Former Raiders RB Mike Goodson signed a 3-year deal worth $6.9M with the Gang Green to possibly replace departed RB Shonn Greene as the Jets' starting running back. Goodson, a former 4th round pick of the Carolina Panthers, was traded to the Oakland Raiders last offseason and ran for 6.3 yards a carry on 35 attempts last year. He started in 3 games in 2010 for the Panthers, replacing injured DeAngelo Williams.
