It now appears that former Jets' QB Brett Favre was advised to continue to play by the Jets despite a torn biceps in his throwing shoulder last season. Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum confirmed this morning that the team knew about Favre's condition and did not put him on the injury report, which is a clear violation of the league rules. In the past, teams have been fined anywhere between $10K to $25K for not reporting all injuries, but the amount of the fine depends on the violation, and could exceed that range. No team has ever lost a draft pick for violating the injury report guidelines.
QB Brett Favre has told the New York Jets that he's retiring from professional football. Favre had instructed his agent, James Cook, to inform the Jets on Wednesday that he is retiring. Jets team executives and coach Rex Ryan confirmed the retirement in a statement, saying they talked to Favre on Wednesday morning about his decision. Favre, a future Hall of Famer, spent last season with the Jets, throwing for 3,472 yards, 22 TD, 22 INT.

The National Football League has announced the 2009 Pro Bowl rosters, which include seven New York Jets players - the most in team history and surpass a club-high of five following the 1982, 1985 and 1998 seasons. All seven Jets will make their first Pro Bowl appearances as representatives of the Gang Green in Hawaii
After last week's debacle against the Denver Broncos, the New York Jets continued their free fall this afternoon, as they lost to the 4-8 San Francisco 49ers. With Miami and New England both winning today's games, the Gang Green are now in a 3-way tie for the first place in the AFC East.
Following two subpar performances in the previous couple of weeks, the New York Jets stepped up to the plate as they faced the AFC East leading Buffalo Bills. This was a "make it or break it game" and the Gang Green passed the test, beating one of their archrivals 26-17. This win put the Jets in a 3-team tie with the Bills and the Patriots, but with the best division record the Gang Green are in the first place.
QB Brett Favre shrugged off three interceptions and led the New York Jets on a late fourth quarter comeback against the Kansas City Chiefs, as the Gang Green struggled against one of the worst NFL teams for the second week in a row.
If you have been a fan of this team long enough, today's loss against the Raiders really should not come as a big surprise. This is exactly the kind of game that the New York Jets have always had a tendency of losing. The Same Old Jets!!!

The New York Jets did not play particularly well coming off a bye week, but their effort turned out to be enough to beat the winless Cincinnati Bengals, 26-14. The Gang Green improved to 3-2 and are now 3-0 in games immediately following a bye under coach Eric Mangini.

The bleachers were completely packed - fans even had to wait in line to get in. They sure weren't disappointed, as Favre took more reps than all the other quarterbacks combined.
The New York Jets have released QB Chad Pennington to clear up salary cap space for the recently acquired QB Brett Favre. Pennington, who was drafted in the first round in 2000, has spent his entire injury plagued career with the Jets. His best year was 2002 when he took over as the starting quarterback and posted an amazing QB rating of 104.2, leading the Gang Green to the playoffs.
According to various news sources, the New York Jets acquired QB Brett Favre from the Green Bay Packers. Favre, 38, is an all-time NFL passing leader coming off one of the best seasons in his long career. It's believed that the Jets will send to Green Bay their 4th round draft pick that increases in value depending upon how the Jets perform during the 2008 season. According to the NFL Network, if Favre takes 50% of total snaps with the Jets in 2008, the fourth rounder becomes a 3rd round pick. If he gets 70% of the snaps and the Jets make the playoffs, it becomes a 2nd round pick; and if he gets 80% of snaps and the Jets make the Super Bowl, it becomes a 1st round pick.
