If Jets fans wanted to see an impressive offensive showing from the Gang Green, they will have to wait at least another week. The revamped Jets' offense looked anything but impressive, but at least they did not make any big mistakes, which was something that haunted them throughout the entire last season. Nevertheless, it was still good to see Rex Ryan's team open preseason with a 13-10 win.

The Jets have finally made some noise in this year's free agency as they agreed on a 2-year deal with free agent RB Chris Johnson. Johnson, who will turn 29 later this year, has rushed for over 1,000 yards in all six years he's spent in the league. His best season was in 2009 when he crossed the coveted 2,000-yard mark, which is something that only seven players, including Johnson, managed to accomplish.

The Jets defense did everything in their power to ensure that the team did not lose to Drew Brees and his high powered Saints offense. Brees faced constant pressure from the Jets front four which wreaked havoc in the backfield despite only two total sacks on the day. Young guns Quinton Coples, Muhammad Wilkerson, Sheldon Richardson and Damon Harrison lead the charge with help from veteran outside linebacker Calvin Pace to throw in six quarterback hits to go along with their couple of sacks.

PK Nick Folk, who has not missed a field goal attempt all season, was named the AFC's Special Teams Player of the Week. He converted all four of his field goal tries, from 39, 21, 47 and 45 yards, during Sunday's win against the New Orleans Saints. Folk also had four kickoff touchbacks. This is the second time Folk wins the AFC Special Teams award this season. He also won it after hitting the game-winning field goal to defeat the Bucs on opening day.

Football is finally here, as the New York Jets took the field this morning for their first training camp practice. All eyes were, of course, on QB Mark Sanchez and rookie QB Geno Smith who began their battle for the starting quarterback position. Sanchez completed 8 of 11 passes and was sacked twice in team drills. Geno Smith went 4 of 7 with one sack. Smith looked good throwing long passes, showing impressive arm strength.

After selecting QB Geno Smith in the second round, the New York Jets filled a hole in their offensive line, as they picked OG Brian Winters from Kent State in the third round. The 6-4, 320-pound Winters played both tackle positions in college (34 starts at LT, 16 starts at RT), but he will compete for a starting guard spot with OG Vlad Ducasse. Winters lacks elite athleticism, but is regarded as a physical, punishing blocker that the Jets need after losing both starting guards in the offseason.

The new rebuilding era for the New York Jets has officially begun, as the team traded their best player, CB Darrelle Revis, to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Gang Green will receive Tampa Bay's first round pick (#13 overall) in this year's draft and a fourth round selection in the 2014 draft. The 2014 pick could become a third-rounder if Revis is on Tampa Bay's roster on the third day of the 2014 league year. Revis subsequently signed a 6-year $96M deal with the Bucs.
