The New York Jets have declared RB Bilal Powell, SS Emmanuel Cook, DL Kenrick Ellis, QB Kevin O'Connell, WR Logan Payne, C Nick Mangold, OL Robert Turner inactive for Week 3. All-Pro C Nick Mangold will miss the first game of his career due to an ankle injury he suffered last week. Undrafted rookie C Colin Baxter will start in his place.

As it was expected, C Nick Mangold will miss Sunday's game against the Oakland Raiders due to the ankle injury he suffered against the Jaguars. WR Logan Payne (wrist) and OL Rob Turner (ankle) are out as well. Undrafted rookie C Colin Baxter will start in place of Mangold.

All-Pro C Nick Mangold underwent an MRI this morning, which confirmed that he suffered a high ankle sprain and no additional damage. Mangold injured his ankle in the first quarter of Sunday's 32-3 win against the Jacksonville Jaguars. As of now, there's no timetable for Mangold's return. The team will have to monitor the injury and see how it progresses. However, he's been ruled out for next game against the Oakland Raiders. He will most likely miss at least 2-3 games.

The New York Jets' defense came out on a mission this afternoon, after a shaky performance last week against the Cowboys, as they intercepted four passes and limited Jacksonville to just 203 total yards (112 rushing and 91 passing). The Gang Green crushed the Jaguars, 32-3, but lost All-Pro C Nick Mangold who suffered an ankle injury in the first quarter. Mangold is scheduled to have an MRI tomorrow, but it looks like he will miss a few weeks. Rookie OL Colin Baxter replaced Mangold and performed pretty well.

The Jets placed QB Greg McElroy, who suffered a thumb injury in the preseason finale against the Eagles, on the injured reserved list ending his rookie season. They also cut LB Aaron Maybin, CB Isaiah Trufant and NT Martin Tevaseu, creating roster space for the four players they claimed off waivers.
