The NFL has issued a total of $125,000 in fines against the New York Jets and former coach Eric Mangini for the team's failure to list QB Brett Favre's arm problem on injury reports last season.
Former Jets head coach Eric Mangini didn't remain unemployed for too long, as according to various news reports, he has been hired as head coach of the Cleveland Browns.
It did not take long for Woody Johnson and Co. to make the right decision and fire Eric Mangini whose third season with the New York Jets ended with an epic collapse and failure to make the playoffs. The Gang Green was 8-3 after 11 games this season but followed their early success with an inexplicable slide down the stretch, as they lost 4 out of the last 5 games.
In just four weeks Eric Mangini’s Jets went from a Super Bowl contender to a lousy team that most likely won’t even make the playoffs. Following their rout of then undefeated Tennessee, the New York Jets were thrashed by the Denver Broncos, outplayed by the 49ers (4-9 at that time), barely beat the Buffalo Bills and finally yesterday lost to the Seattle Seahawks (3-11). The Gang Green had one of the easiest schedules in the NFL, they spent over $100M on free agents in the offseason, they have seven Pro Bowlers on their roster – what else does a team need to be a contender in this league? Head coach with a brain!

If someone thought that after Tom Brady's season-ending injury the New York Jets became the new powerhouse of the AFC East, their hopes came down crushing this afternoon as the Same Old Jets showed up to play. The Gang Green were thoroughly out outcoached and outplayed in basically every aspect of the game.
