Once a bust is always a bust. LB Aaron Maybin, a former Buffalo first round pick who was deemed a bust before signing with the New York Jets last season and leading the team with six sacks, was cut by the Gang Green earlier today. After seemingly redeeming himself last season, Maybin struggled immensely in this year's campaign, recording just one tackle in eight games. He was inactive on Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks.

RB/KR Joe McKnight was named the AFC's Special Teams Player of the Month for October. He returned 11 kickoffs for 443 yards for the month, including a 107-yard kickoff-return touchdown against the Ravens, which was also the longest play in Jets' history. McKnight’s 40.3 kickoff return average in October was the highest in the NFL. In his second season from USC, this is McKnight’s first career Player of the Month Award. He joins KR Justin Miller (October of 2006), KR Brad Smith (December of 2010) and P Tom Tupa (November of 1999) as the only Jets to earn Special Teams Player of the Month honors.

Rookie DE Muhammad Wilkerson was fined $10K for his fight with Giants RB Brandon Jacobs during the teams' preseason game last month. Jacobs was hit with a $20K fine, as this wasn't his first offense. Both players were ejected after shoving at each other in the second half of the Jets' 17-3 win on Aug. 29. Wilkerson, 21, will start for the Jets in the season opener against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night.
