According to ESPN.com, the New York Jets released CB Lito Sheppard, who was signed as a free agent before the last season. Sheppard was due a $10M roster bonus, so this move was pretty much expected, considering that Sheppard had a subpar season at best.

The Jets broke camp last night (this morning's practice got canceled) and headed back to New Jersey this morning, where they will conduct an open practice session tomorrow at their Florham Park complex. The practice is scheduled for 10:30am. Two more open sessions in New Jersey are scheduled for August 26th and August 27th. Both sessions will begin at 11:30am.

DE Shaun Ellis missed both Monday practice sessions because of knee and back problems. The injuries are not considered to be serious and Ellis should be ready for regular season, which will most likely start for him in Week 2 due to the possible one game suspension.

The New York Jets have signed the following 8 players to their practice squad: WR Larry Brackins, WR Paul Raymond, RB Jehuu Caulcrick, OL Stanley Daniels, OL Matt McChesney, DB James Ihedigbo, DE Ropati Pitoitua and LB Brandon Renkart.
