It's been a while since the New York Jets started a season with expectations being so low. Most experts predicted the Gang Green would win 5-6 games at most; some went as far as anticipating a 3-13 season. The Jets went into the season opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as 3-point underdogs. Not a single "expert" on the entire ESPN panel picked the Gang Green to win this one. Edwards is currently taking a physical at the New York Jets facility at Florham Park, NJ. The Gang Green are searching for a veteran receiver and worked out WR Austin Collie and WR Laurent Robinson earlier this week but chose not to sign either.

The New York Jets signed TE Kellen Winslow Jr., a former #6 overall draft pick who sat out last season after playing just one game for the Patriots. Winslow, 29, is a 9-year veteran who had the talent to be one of the best tight ends in the game. His career, however, has been hampered by injuries, both on and off the field, and attitude problems. Nevertheless, Winslow has caught 438 passes for 4,848 yards, 23 TDs over the course of his NFL career.
