WR Santonio Holmes will stay with the Gang Green after agreeing to restructure his contract. He signed a $50M deal with the team back in July of 2011 with $24 million guaranteed. Holmes was slated to make $7.5M guaranteed in the upcoming season, but there was an offset language in the deal. Even if the Jets had cut him, Holmes would not be able to "double dip" and earn a contract from both the Jets and whatever team picked him up. The terms of his new deal have not been announced.
The New York Jets' list of injured players has grown compared to last week as they prepare to face the Cleveland Browns (3-5) and their former head coach Eric Mangini. CB Marquice Cole has missed all practice sessions this week and is out with a hamstring injury. LB Joshua Mauga has been limited all week and is listed as questionable. Starting left guard, OG Matt Slauson, missed Wednesday's practice due to a knee injury but then fully participated on Thursday and Friday. He's listed as probable. OT Damien Woody is also listed as probable due to a knee injury.
