QB Mark Sanchez will start again next week despite throwing 4 interceptions and losing a fumble in a 14-31 loss against the New England Patriots. Head coach Rex Ryan said that he had no plans on benching the rookie, as sitting on the bench will not help him improve. This was the second time this season when Sanchez turned the ball over 5 times in one game.

The Jets are trailing 24-7 at halftime after what was probably the worst half played by the Gang Green this season. The Jets have gained only 34 yards thus far, while New England has racked up 272 yards against Rex Ryan's heralded defensive unit. New York has only 2 first downs and QB Mark Sanchez has thrown an equal number of completed passes and interceptions - two apiece. The Jets rookie is 2 of 9 for 15 yards, 0 TD, 2 INT.

The first week of the 2009 NFL season is over and the early betting lines for Week 2 are out. The New England Patriots are favored over the New York Jets by 5 points in what is going to be the first real test of Rex Ryan's team. Both teams won in Week 1, which means the winner of this contest will take the lead in AFC East. NT Kris Jenkins has already stated that the Gang Green are "going to be playing this game like it's the Super Bowl." Head coach Rex Ryan, meanwhile, stated that the Pats have the advantage at quarterback and head coach, but it remains to be seen who has the better team. Rex also challenged Jets fans to show up at the Meadowlands and do their part.

The Jets' defense dominated for the second week in a row, as the Gang Green backed up their brash statements and defeated the New England Patriots, 16-9. The Jets also snapped an 8-game home losing streak against New England, stopped Tom Brady's game winning streak at 21 games, and extended their own streak of not allowing a touchdown to two games. The Gang Green are 2-0 for the first time since 2004 when they started the season 5-0 under head coach Herman Edwards.

This was truly a game of two totally different halves, as the New York Jets' offense came out with a vengeance in the second half and scored 13 unanswered points. The Gang Green beat their archrival, 16-9, and moved into sole possession of the AFC East. They also finally snapped the 8-game losing streak to the Patriots in home games, which dated back to 2001.

This was a pretty rough half for rookie QB Mark Sanchez, as he was sacked and fumbled on the first play from scrimmage. The second possession wasn't any better - this time it was RB Leon Washington who fumbled the ball, giving the Patriots possession on the Jets' 17-yard line. Although replays showed that Washington was down before the ball came out, the officials ruled this a fumble.

Another chapter in the Jets vs. Patriots rivalry will be written tomorrow, as the Pats, who have won last 8 in the Meadowlands, come to take on the resurging Gang Green. This will be 98th regular season contest between these two original AFL teams. The Jets are ahead 49-47-1, but will go into this game as 3.5-point underdogs.
