The New York Jets conducted their first open practice session on Tuesday, drawing a crowd of almost 3,000 people. Because of the post lockout rules the players did not have pads on, while all recent free agent signings did not participate in the drills at all. This meant that both starting wide receivers, WR Santonio Holmes and WR Plaxico Burress, were out. Burress spent quite some time talking to Tom Moore, who was recently signed as a consultant. Holmes, on the other hand, seemed pretty bored most of the time. WR Jerricho Cotchery did not suit up either, as he's still recovering from last season't injury.

According to various source, the Jets are going to release WR David Clowney and WR Patrick Turner to make room for WR Santonio Holmes and DT Howard Green. Holmes, who was suspended for the first four games of regular season, is expected to make the evolving Jets passing game even more dangerous. He's a proven deep threat and basically impossible to cover in the slot. Green, who was released last week to make room for DE Trevor Pryce, will be re-signed.
