Super Bowl review: Patriots reclaim Lombardi Trophy

It's tough for any fan outside of New England to watch the Patriots make a Super Bowl run year after year. But for Jets fans, it's much more personal than that and, dare we say, even offensive?! But here we are again, only this year it's worse, so much worse, than last year when the Eagles doused any hopes of another Lombardi Trophy in Foxboro. This season the Patriots defeated the Rams 13-3 in a game that was heavy on defense and light on offense. Even the best online sportsbook out there had this year’s Super Bowl total in the mid to upper 50's. Yet, only 16 combined points were scored.

The best online sportsbooks found over at Sportsbook Review, are already dealing odds on next season’s Super Bowl winner. Despite the fact that this season's Super Sunday is still in front of us, the oddsmakers have already tagged the Jets at 100-1 to take home the Lombardi Trophy next season. But take heart Gang Green, the Dolphins are mired in the muck at 300-1 and even that doesn't seem generous enough to burn a few bucks their way. This year's Final Four, the Patriots, Rams, Chiefs, and Chargers have odds at 7-1, 7-1, 8-1, and 8-1 respectively. It's hard to fathom someone thinking that now is the right time to wager on anything to do with next season before the draft, free agent acquisitions, training camp, and the inevitable injuries suffered during those camps. But even if you throw a dart blindfolded, sometimes it hits the bullseye.

MLB David Harris has been named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week for games played on NFL Kickoff 2009 Weekend (September 10, 13-14). He registered a team-high 12 tackles, one sack and one pass defended in a 24-7 road win against the Houston Texans. Harris helped limit the Texans’ offense to 183 total yards (145 passing yards, 38 rushing yards), as the Jets' defense did not allow an offensive touchdown for the first time since November 9, 2008 against the St. Louis Rams. In his third year from Michigan, this is Harris’ first career Player of the Week Award. The last Jets linebacker to be named AFC Defensive Player of the Week was LB Eric Barton in 2004 (Week 15).
