Rookie WR Devin Smith, who was selected by the Jets in the 2nd round, suffered broken ribs during today's practice. He's expected to miss most of training camp and is being held in the hospital overnight as a precaution. Smith made the best catch of the afternoon but as he was coming down with the ball, he was bumped from behind in the head/neck area by S Jaiquawn Jarrett.

The New York Jets secondary will look pretty similar to the 2012 version, as the Gang Green agreed on a deal with free agent CB Antonio Cromartie. Cromartie, 30, spent four seasons with the Jets before being released a year ago and signing 1-year contract with the Cardinals, whose then-defensive coordinator, Todd Bowles, is now the Jets' head coach. Now he's back with the Jets, reportedly signing a 4-year deal worth around $8M per year.

The Gang Green's offensive line was considered to be one of the best in the league just a few years ago. The unit that featured once a perennial Pro Bowler C Nick Mangold and his fellow first round draft pick OT D'Brickashaw Ferguson was young and fearsome, capable of both pass protecting and run blocking.

PK Nick Folk is back with the New York Jets for at least another season. Folk, who was an unrestricted free agent, was re-signed to a 1-year deal. Folk joined the Jets in 2010 after spending the first three years of his NFL career with the Dallas Cowboys. Last season he converted 21 of 27 field goal attempts, which was his highest percentage since joining the Gang Green.

The New York Jets signed free agent OL Willie Colon who was released two days ago by the Pittsburgh Steelers. Colon reportedly signed a 1-year deal worth $1.2M. He's projected to start at OG in place of OG Brandon Moore, who's unlikely to return to the team. Colon was a top-15 run-blocking guard and top-25 pass-blocking guard in 2012 per ProFootballFocus, but also led all guards in penalties.
