Pennington wins starting job

Admin - August 29, 2006

The New York Jets have announced that QB Chad Pennington won the starting job Tuesday. Pennington, coming off two major shoulder injuries, was in a four-man competition to regain the job that was his before he got hurt. He won't play in the preseason finale against Philadelphia on Friday night, but will be under center Sept. 10 against Tennessee.
RB Curtis Martin will remain on the physically-unable-to-perform list with a lingering knee injury after missing all of training camp. He will be eligible to return in Week 6 at the earliest.
