Injuries

Vilma out for season

The New York Jets placed MLB Jonathan Vilma on the injured reserve earlier today, which means that the 4-year veteran will miss the remainder of the season.

Vilma, 25, has started in every game of his NFL career and never missed a game before. He suffered a knee injury in last week's game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Jets added some depth at linebacker, activating LB Matt Chatham from the reserve-physically unable to perform list. Chatham, who plays mostly on special teams, missed minicamp, training camp and the first seven games of the season while recovering from a foot injury.
