Jets Free Agent Signings

Jets patch offensive line hole

Admin - February 29, 2008

The New York Jets continued making splashes on the first day of free agency as they tentatively agreed to a four-year, $32M deal that includes roughly $23M in guarantees, with OG Alan Faneca. Faneca is expected to travel to New York this weekend, when the deal will be finalized. The Jets plan to play Faneca at left guard.

Faneca, 31, is a 10-year veteran who has spent his entire career with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The 7-time Pro Bowler has missed just two games during his NFL career.

In New York, Faneca will join a talented but young offensive line that includes OT D'Brickashaw Ferguson and C Nick Mangold as the Jets try to boost an offense that ranked 26th in the NFL last year in yards per game (294.7) and 19th in rushing yards per game (106.3).
